Trekking Cochamo valley + Sea kayak lakes of Puelo Valley

During the next seven days we will travel through the best of Cochamó Valley and Padle 3 Andean Lakes in Puelo Valley.

High lights of Cochamó:
Sleep in a climbieng refuge / hot showers / Pizza / load horses for your personal Equipment / hike to Arco Iris lookout / Alerces of 3.000 years old / Condors / Rain Forest / water falls / river Crossing.

High lights of Andean Lakes:

  • All meals from days 1 to 7, including walk snack, box lunch, breakfasts and dinners with board cheese and wines

  • Lodging in Cochamó Refuge for 2 nights, 2 nights in TheTtree House in front of Lago Las Rocas and 2 Nights in a organized camping in Rio Puelo.
  • All camping equipment, Mountain Hard Wear tents for 2 people, Therma Rest inflatable mattresses, kitchen tent, awning and 70lt dry bags for your personal equipment.
  • All kayaking equipment; Kayak with rudder and Prijon equipment (German), double and simple, rows, skirts, row jackets, life jacket, dry bags for your equipment and camera.
  • Professional First aid kit, Satelital Phone, UHF Radios, handy, maps and repair kits, and more
  • Bilingual Guides (Spanish-English) accredited by Wilderness First Response, guide of the national school mountain ENAM with wide experience in trekking and long trips.Kayak guides Certificate by NOLS and ACA (American canoe asociation) also accredited by Wilderness First Response; widely experienced in long sea kayak trips to remote places.

Day by Day

Day 14.11       Stgo / Puerto Varas                                
Check the equipment, briefing of the trip and last minute shopping of personal equipment, Night in Hostal.
Day 15.11       Puerto Varas / Las Juntas                                   
Today is a big day; when the sun rises we will be surrounded by granite mountains. We will climb up and into the forest and have a close look to mañío, coigüe, alerce and lenga trees. After 5 hours walking and climbing 2 fix ropes (easy and safe to do) we will find ourselves in the highlands of the mountains of Cochamo and admire remarkable views of the valley, place of condors and climbers. After a nice lunch we will walk back to the refuge to celebrate the day.
Day 16.11       Las Juntas / Arco iris hill                                        
Today is a big day, when the sun rises we will be surrounded by granite mountains. We will climb up and into the forest having a close look of mañíos, coigües, alerces and lenga trees. After 5 hours walking and climbing 2 fix ropes (easy and safe to do) we will be in the highlands of Cochamó Valley, place of Condors and climbers. After a nice lunch we will walk back to Las Juntas to celebrate the day. Night in Refuge. B-BL-D
Day 17.11       Las Juntas / Río Puelo                                     
After a big breakfast we will begin our way towards the fjords of Pumalin Park. We will hiker some 9k/5.5mi with the slope on our favour and later reach the road, where our minibus will be waiting to take us to Río Puelo town. There we will spend the night on a camping site with hot water and bonfires. Night in camping site. B-BL-D
Day 18.11       Rio Puelo/ Tagua Tagua and azul lake                             
Once in the Tagua Tagua Lake, we will organize the equipment to have a conversation about safety, rescue and paddle techniques. Once we finish the Practise we will Paddle for about 3 hour to cross this stretch Andean lake which shows us Big rock walls which go inside the water as fantastic falls that go straight down the lake. Once In the opposite side of the Tagua Tagua Lake our private van will be waiting for us to drive us by a dirt track which was built just 4 years ago. This track will take LLanda Grande to continue our trip to Laguna Totoral where we will load our kayaks into a cart pulled by oxen. We will walk for about 1 hour to get to the beautiful north side of the Blue Lake (lago Azul). We will enter into the water and paddle for about 2 hours in this Lake populated only by 2 settler families. Once on the opposite edge we will set up camp next to the lake. Night in Camping site. Day 19.11       kayak Las Rocas Lakes                           
After Break fast We will continue our trip to Las Rocas Rocas Lake,  we will load our kayaks into a kind of cart pulled by oxen and  walk for about 1 hour to get to the beautiful north side of lago Las Rocas. We will enter into the water and paddle for about 3 hours in this beautiful lake surrounding by mountains and forest. Once on the opposite edge we will set up camp, make a fire and enjoy the afternoon. Night in Camping Site. B-BL-D
Day 20.11                   Las Rocas / Rio Puelo                                                
We will have a nice breakfast and we will begin our return to Puerto Varas paddling for 2 hours to the south Arm of the lake, take another cart pulled by oxen until we rich the road where our mini bus will be waiting for us, load our equipment and drive back to the camping site in Rio Puelo to expend the night. This time we will cross the Tagua Tagua Lake by ferry. Night on a camping site with hot water and bonfires. B-BL-D
Day 21.11                   Rio Puelo / Puerto Varas                    
After a break fast we drive back to the airport in Puerto Montt. B-BL
