We will travel across the beautiful Cochamó Valley in 3 days walking 4 to 6 hours a day, carrying only 5k / 11lb on your back (day backpack), while the rest of the equipment is carried by horses guided by ‘arrieros’ from the area. We take care of all the details to prepare on the spot delicious and abundant food next to a nice bonfire in the open air.
Cochamó Valley is also called the Chilean ‘Yosemite’ and it represents the essential North Patagonia with its enormous granite walls that attract climbers from all over the world and that are starting to explore the possibilities of new routes of trekking and climbing.
Get inside of the exuberant rainforest with ancient trees like the Alerce -the second most long-lived tree in the world- that can live 3.500 years and reach heights of 50m. We will cross rivers using traverses, climb up to the tree line to have spectaculars views of the valley and rappel down to the valley.

Day by Day
Day 1 Puerto Varas / Las Juntas
We drive down the scenic coastal road that will take us to the town of Cochamó located by the Reloncavi Estuary, the first Fjord of Patagonia. Here we will meet with the local guide (arriero) to load the horses that are going to carry all our gear. Hike up the valley covered with rainforest and amazing views of granite walls. Once in Las Juntas we will rest and set up camp. With the ones who still have energy we will go around the Juntas Valley (5hrs/9km/5.6 mi/350mts difference in height) (BL-D) (night in refuge)
Day 2 Las Juntas / Arco iris hill
Today is a big day, when the sun rises we will be surrounded by granite mountains. We will climb up and into the forest having a close look of mañíos, coigües, alerces and lenga trees. After 5 hours walking and climbing 2 fix ropes (easy and safe to do) we will be in the highlands of Cochamó Valley, place of Condors and climbers. After a nice lunch we will walk back to Las Juntas to celebrate the day. (7hrs/ 8km / 5 mi / 900mts difference in height) (B-BL-D) (night in refuge)
Day 3 Las Juntas / Puerto Varas
We will have a good breakfast to start our trip back to Puerto Varas. We will walk for 9km / 5.6mi back to the road only this time with the inclination on our side and there our private van will be waiting for us to take us back to Puerto Varas. As an alternative for this last day in Cochamó, we offer the possibility of hiring horses to ride back. Price $20.000 per person.
